OBITUARIES

 

 

ALBERT GALES, JR., 79, of Memphis, passed away January 4, 2008 at Memphis Veterans Medical Center. He was a retired Master Barber and Instructor. He was also a veteran of the United States Army and served with the 101st Airborne in Korea. A graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, he continued his education at Moler Barber College. He is survived by his daughter, Yolonda Gales Williams; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Lucille Gales Coffee; one brother, Samuel C. (Moline) Gales; one sister-in-law, Geraldine Walthal; and two brothers-in-law, Jackson (Joyce) White of Memphis and Verrie McCole of St. Louis. Albert was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Lucille Gales; his son, Martron Gales; his parents, Albert and Armenthry Gales; and his brother, Oliver B. Gales, Sr. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 11, from 5-8 p.m. at M. J. Edwards Funeral Home on Airways. Funeral Services will commence at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Greater New Salem Baptist Church (Miss. Blvd). Interment on Monday at 11 a.m. in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
