OBITUARIES

 

 

MILDRED D. NEWELL, 70, a retired counselor for the Shelby County Sheriff's Department, a 1955 graduate of Booker T. Washington and LeMoyne-Owen College, a lifetime member of the NAACP, a former member of the Silver Bullet Ski Club and a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, of Memphis, TN, passed away May 20, 2007. Visitation, 4-6:30 p.m., Friday, May 25 at N.J. Ford and Sons Funeral Home. Funeral service at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 26 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church at Raines and Boeingshire. Interment in New Park Cemetery. She leaves two sons, Joel Anthony Lashley (Brenda) of Memphis and Carlos Lashley (Karen) of Houston, TX; two sisters, Gloria Barlow of Buffalo, NY and Pier Richardson (Kenneth) of Memphis, TN; and a host of other relatives and friends.
