THELMA HUBBARD COLEMAN, 85, of Memphis, widow of William Austin Coleman, Sr., alumna of Booker T. Washington, Class of 1937 and Lemoyne Owen College, retired educator for Memphis City Schools, member of Alpha Eta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Memphis and Shelby County Retired Teachers’ Association, lifetime member of NAACP, member of Orange Mound Progressive Club and long standing member of Mt. Pisgah CME Church, ascended to her heavenly home on August 17, 2007 at Methodist University Hospital. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 21 from 5-7 p.m. at Harrison’s Funeral Home Chapel, 2647 Carnes Avenue. Mrs. Coleman will lie in repose on Wednesday, August 22 from 10-11:55 a.m. at Mt. Pisgah CME Church, 2490 Park Ave, with funeral ceremony at 12 Noon. Interment to follow in Memorial Park Southwoods, 5485 Hacks Cross Rd. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Krystal Coleman-Askew and Marcia Coleman (Edward) Cash, who lovingly cared for her; one son, William A. Coleman, Jr.; Goddaughter, Pamela Carter, all of Memphis; a foster son, H. Kiser Hunter of Brooklyn, NY; a devoted brother-in-law, Oliver Coleman, Jr. of Manhattan, NY; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
